  • What is microblading/microshading?
Microblading is a method of implanting pigment into the top layers of your skin to simulate the appearance of natural hair. It helps to create fuller more symmetrical eyebrows. It is a form of permanent makeup. Altough referred to more commonly as semi permanent it can stay in the skin indefinitely. It is considered a tattoo. A touch up is suggested every 12-18 months in order to keep the color fresh and shape intact. Microblading is meant to be a subtle natural enhancement to create fuller looking brows. It will look the most natural on someone who already has decently full eyebrows and are just wanting to perfect them. Microblading will heal best on young, healthy and dry/normal skin. Oily skin and mature skin will not heal as well. Microshading is best for these types of clients.
  • What should I do before my appointment to prepare?
Look up references from my Instagram and find brows I have done that you like. I will customize each set of brows to the specific client. Going by your face shape, bone structure and natural brow growth. Do not wax/tweeze your brows beforehand, I need as much brow hair to work with as possible and I will clean them up for you at your appointment. Do not drink coffee/caffeine the day of your appointment. No alcohol the night before your appointment. You should not take any medications that can thin the blood (aspirin, ibuprofen, vitamin E, fish oil, etc) 72 hours before your appointment.
  • Does microblading hurt?
This is a tough one! The simple answer is it depends on the person! The majority of clients say its about a 2/3 out of 10. I am making little incisions in your skin with a handheld microblade tool. It also depends on your pain tolerance in general. Although, it is best to wait until you are not on your mentrual cycle as most everyone is super sensitive during that time.
  • How long does microblading last?
Retention of microblading depends on many factors. Clients with oily skin tend to lose pigment much faster. Retention also depends on how well you take care of them afterwards. Smoking, medications and clients age can also affect retention. All in all microblading on average lasts 12-24 months before a color refresh is necessary.
  • What is the aftercare like for microblading?
The day of your appointment you will only blot off the excess lymph fluid coming out from your brows gently with a clean tissue. Your brows will start to get darker and will remain dak for 2-3 days. The day after your appointment you will gently wash your brows in the morning and at night and apply a small amout of grapeseed oil after each wash. Nothing else should touch your brows for the first 10-14 days. Make sure to wash them outside of the shower with cool water. Dry gently with a clean paper towel. Keep brows dry (besides washing) until completely healed, no flaking of scabs and they appear smooth. Usually 10-14 days. NO excessive sweating or going into pools, hot tubs, saunas, lakes etc during healing. Do not pick or scratch the scabs. This will pull the color out of the brow forever. No working out/sweating for 2 weeks. Your brows can turn ashy if this is not followed. Avoid direct sun exposure for 2 weeks. After they're healed apply sunscreen to them to help them last longer. No anti-aging or acne products should be used on the brows. These products will cause fading and blur the strokes together. Once the scabs have come off your brows may look like they have disappeared as the pigment is now hiding behind your new skin. Dont worry, the color will return! It is normal for not every single stroke to stay. I will not know how your body will retain the pigment until your touch up, that is why a touch up is NECESSARY at 6-8 weeks. We will adjust color, shaping and fix any issues at that time.
  • What will affect my microblading retention?
Smokers may notice their permanent makeup fade faster. People with oily skin may experience blurring of strokes or a lighter healed brow. Anemic or iron deficient people will absorb the pigment faster and quicker. Lots of sun exposure will cause the brows to fade faster. Please apply sunscreen to your brows. Age and Metabolism may cause faster fading. Excessive bleeding during the procedure will affect how the pigment stays. The blood will push the pigment out. Sometimes this is out of our control but you must do everything in your power to prepare, which includes avoiding blood thinning medicine, alcohol and caffeine beforehand.
  • Do you have to shave my eyebrows before I receive microblading?
Absolutely not! The more eyebrow hair you have the better. The goal is to make the strokes blend with your natural hair. But microblading is HUGE for people with little to no brow hair as we are creating a whole new brow.
